Happy First Birthday, Lillian!

There is nothing quite like the joy of a one-year-old’s birthday party and this one went down with style – tiny cupcakes, champagne and (of course) a pink tutu! Lillian has a mind of her own and moves fast these days compared to our first meeting back in 2011. We’re certainly going to miss her mom and dad when they move back to St. Louis! Congrats on making to through year one!

Run for the Love of Dove, 2011

On rare occasion, I’ve found myself without a scheduled job on the weekend (quite rarely during the wedding season!). This particular Sunday, June 12th, marked the return of the DoveLewis 5k Run/Walk to raise money for the DoveLewis Stray Animal & Wildlife Program. They needed an extra photographer… and hanging out with a bunch of pups at a favorite beer hall sounded like a fantastic way to begin a sunny Sunday, so I volunteered my services for Dove.

Runners, both human and canine, were invited to participate in the event to support Portland’s #1 Emergency Animal Hospital. Find out more and get involved at dovelewis.org!

C.C. Stern Type Foundry

On the 26th of March, C.C. Stern Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon opened it’s doors to the public. For a type fanatic like myself, it was a great opportunity to reconnect with the roots of mechanized typesetting. Thank you for the fabulous trip through time!!

“The mission of the C.C. Stern Type Foundry is to cultivate a unique connection between industry and the arts in the Pacific Northwest. For the first phase of the museum’s operation, our focus will be on relearning the skills and revitalizing the experiences of the working type foundry. The museum will provide educational programming, including live demonstrations of the foundry equipment and type casting processes….The Type Foundry provides a gathering place for type enthusiasts from all genres of study, connecting them with the Northwest’s printing history, as well as with national and international organizations devoted to typography, type casting and printing.” - ccsterntype.org

Hillsboro Cross Crusade

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

I only made it to a couple of races this season. Here is the race from Hillsboro, when the weather cooperated perfectly for a nice sunny day following a weeks worth of rain. I still have mud on my clothes and camera bag from this, but it was great fun capturing some of my best biking shots!

In anticipation of CycloCross starting next weekend, here are some shots from this summer’s Twilight Criterium. This is a grueling hour long ride around Portland’s park blocks. Thousands of spectators and photographers line the streets to watch these professionals duel for lap prizes and the largest single race winnings in the state.
